Welcome Kellen Vedder May

Kellen Vedder May
Born April 5, 2010
6 pounds, 15 ounces
20 inches long

We don't have video of the birth this time due to a malfunction with the video camera, but we do have pictures:)

Waiting to go into surgery...

Tim waiting to be let into the operating room.
Kellen's almost here:)

So Kellen was breach and ended up sucking in a ton of fluids so he hung out in NICU for 3-4 hours. Amazingly, it didn't freak me out. Tim got to go with him while I went back to the recovery room. I ended up getting sick from the anesthesia (much more than I did with LJ) so by the time Kellen was brought to our room, I was less sick and better able to take care of Kellen.

LJ wasn't quite so sure what to think of the new baby. Now he loves to give him toys (he throws them in the bassinet...they are all soft, so Kellen doesn't get hurt:) and kiss his feet.

Dr. Huffman, who delivered both Kellen and LJ.

Easter

Our family picture pre-Kellen. We didn't really have any of just the three of us. So the night before we went to the hospital (Easter Evening) we took this at my parents house.

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving 2009 was pretty uneventful, but a lot of fun! We spent Thanksgiving day at the Kalvin/Yelkens and Thanksgiving eve and Black Friday at the May's house. Below are some pics from the Kalvin/Yelken feast. In a little while I'll post some video from the May family thanksgiving.

LJ's First Plane Ride & Jere's Wedding

We had a great weekend in Maryland for Jere, Tim's brother's wedding. We left Thursday evening and LJ experienced his first plane ride...It was, well, an event:) I felt like we'd never traveled by plane before. Security was a fun experience and we held up the line as we unpacked our shoes, coats, etc. Lucky for us, the guy behind us had 4 boys and said it was no problem. LJ loved the plane, but was restless the last 15 minutes. Since our flight was delayed by the time we landed it was way past his bedtime and oh, you could tell! We made it to our hotel and we were happy to put an exhausted LJ to bed. The plane ride home was much better - it helps when you are up at 3AM and he gets up with you. By the time our 6:45 AM flight rolled onto the runway for take-off he was out like a light!

Jere and Laura's wedding was beautiful and we had a great time blending the old and new family, as well as seeing relatives and friends we haven't seen since our wedding. LJ was a huge hit and looked quite spiffy in his "nice" clothes. We don't have many reasons to get dressed up so I assured the daycare I'd be sending him in a few outfits so they could see him. I don't have a ton of pics, but as soon as I get some from Judy and Dore (Tim's parents) I'll post them...or if I can get him to sit still, I'll take some pics of him in the outfits before he leaves for daycare in the morning.

One of my favorite moments of the trip was LJ's discovery of "cake". He was so excited to bring me "cake" our first morning at the hotel - "Momma, cake!" The cake was actually a muffin, but from that point forward muffins became "cake". LJ must've felt very fortunate because he had "cake" for breakfast and then at night he had cake for dessert too! I have bought muffin mix so now he can have "cake" on Saturday mornings.

LJ's School Picture

This was LJ's school picture...I don't even remember knowing about it, thus the outfit and hair! I will have some great photos (hopefully!) from Jere's wedding (Tim's brother) in Maryland this upcoming weekend. LJ is going to look fantastic and yes, he's had a haircut!
