LJ's Teething!

LJ has two beautiful bottom teeth. Unfortunately with teething can come fevers and he has one now! 102.4 at last temperature-taking...Hopefully it will clear up soon. Typical LJ though, you can barely tell that he's not feeling good. He was bouncing in his bouncy seat, rolling on the floor - typical baby:)

Up. Up. Up We Go!

So I've got two more pics of LJ to post. Tim was placing LJ ever-so-carefully on his shoulders and LJ felt that he should eat Tim's hair as a return favor:) Enjoy!

LJ:  Yea! I've made it!
LJ: Yum, this is good stuff!

Pears

After a few days of fighting fruit, LJ has finally found something he loves...PEARS! Who would have thought? Tim loves bananas, I love apples, and pears are what LJ loves:) He ate a jar and a half today. He's been doing a great job of going to sleep too - no crying this week!

Videos

Below are a few videos of LJ. They are extremely random, but I thought it'd be fun for everyone to see him in action (especially if you only get to see him via pics). Eventually I'll start throwing stuff together in some video software to make it all flow, but for now...these are the rough cuts...

LJ Rolling Over

Yea! Pictures!

Today has been a fantastic day of laziness. This week Tim and the rest of the Revolution crew were in Vegas this past week planning out the rest of the year. They were supposed to head to Seattle for a conference and then hit Vegas on the way home, but their flight became delayed, they missed the connecting flight in St. Louis to Seattle and thus were going to miss one full day of a two day conference. The same conference will be in the Carolinas this fall and they plan to try again at that time. So instead they headed straight for Vegas and a week of planning. They had some fun along the way...see Tim's fun below:

I spent the day (after taking Pug to the vet and then picking up some Soy Formula for LJ) finishing Julie & Julia. It's about Julie Powell and her trek to cook all of the recipes from Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child in one year. She tracks it all via a blog and gains popularity as she goes. The book was spawned from the end of the project and there is currently a movie in the works. I really enjoyed the book because it made me laugh and it made me want to attempt the things I think of as impossible. I hope I can pass these things along to LJ. So many times I hear about parents telling there kids, "Well, that's a great idea honey, but we need to be realistic." Heck, I experienced it a little just figuring out my major in college - Yeah, we know you want to be a writer, but you need to think about a real job...Now, I don't regret getting a degree in Communications, nor do I regret where I'm at right now, but sometimes I wonder what it would've been like if I'd gone a different direction...maybe majored in something like English or Literature...so here's to a great summertime read. If I've still got it on me, I'll try to bring it to the Kalvin Family Reunion...

So I've promised lots of pictures and now I will deliver...and maybe a few videos as well:)

A little pooped from a long day of playing!

LJ in his favorite toy: The Rainforest Jumpy Thing:)

Steeplechase...and yes I did have a hat as well, but unfortunately no pics of me & the hat just yet. I promise more to come.

Horses, Horses, Everywhere!

Just as this past month has been event after event, this weekend is no exception. Thursday night Tim and I were invited to a Steeplechase Kick-Off party at the Piedmont Golf Club. We'd decided to make it a date night since Tim's parents were going to take LJ overnight. We headed to the party and checked out tons of great silent auction items (non of which we could actually afford!). There were guitars signed by Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Faith Hill & Tim McGraw, Tiger Woods signed items, Jeff Francoeur signed stuff, and lots of horse art. We enjoyed some food and the band, then headed to the Cheesecake Factory for dessert. It was a great evening of semi-dressing up and enjoying each other-a nice change from the crazy pace we've been going!
This morning I went with one of my girlfriends, Jennifer, to the Steeplechase event. It is a series of horse races to benefit a children's charity and the UGA Large Animal Hospital. Grey Goose Vodka (one of my brands) was sponsoring one of the races and sharing a tent with the W Hotel. We had a great time! I got to "present" an award to the GG Cup's winner (by "present" I mean stand in front of the winner holding a trophy while pictures are taken and then give the trophy back b/c the winner's trophies are actually in a bag ready to leave with the winner when he leaves the circle). It was fun b/c I actually got to hang out with our Grey Goose reps and our Empire Sales Reps among other guests and get to know everyone better. After an extremely stressful week (dealing with this event and another event this upcoming Thursday) it was wonderful to just hang out and enjoy the day. A side note is that this event is meant to be similar to the Kentucky Derby (at least on the sponsor side) and so Jennifer and I got dressed up - hats and everything! We felt like little old ladies going to church:) I'll post pics as soon as I get them!

Finally...A Chill Weekend!

So over the past several weeks we've had tons going on...events at work, Good Friday, Easter...more events with work...the list goes on and on. This weekend was great because we actually just chilled.

Friday AM brought Tim taking Pug to the vet to have a growth removed and me taking LJ to the doc for his 6 month appointment. The appointment was pretty uneventful. LJ now weighs 16 pounds...which we don't know whether or not to believe bc we were pretty sure that he weighed more than that last time (not his last wellness check, but the last time we were there bc he was sick). We are going to weigh him tonight using the "I'll weigh myself and then weigh myself holding LJ and subtract" method. He measured at 26 and 1/2 inches. He's eating like a maniac and looks really funny with the food all over his face. Last night Tim fed him for the first time and was trying so hard to keep LJ clean. LJ ruined his plan by grabbing the spoon and then smushing all the food in his hair - it was a classic baby moment!

Back to Friday...
Friday night was a late day at work (I think I finally rolled out of there around 5:30pm...not a big deal, but with traffic and rain the drive home can take forever)...once I hit Canton I met Tim at some friends house where we schooled each other on the Wii. LJ was entertained by the two Taylor daughters and then they entertained us with there very creative boxing maneuvers. One day I'll have to video it and post it b/c we laughed so hard watching it. Literally, Maddie, shakes her fists violently while gripping the Wii controls - seriously - picture a kid pitching a fit and shaking their fists angrily - that is what it looked like. She knocked the other guy out in Round 1. It was so funny!

Saturday I went to pick up Pug from the vet. He did great and the vet loved him. So now we get to keep our hyper pug contained for 2 weeks. I feel bad for the pug b/c even when we try to get him out just to sit in our laps for a bit, he can't help but jump off and on the furniture - to get water, to get a toy, to just run around...so after 30 minutes of this last night I finally had to put him back in his house. He wasn't pleased, but I think he'll hate it more when the stitches get yanked out and he's confined even longer....oh the things we do for our children:) The rest of Saturday I cleaned up and watched movies. Tim had auditions at the church for a new drummer and then came home and did some laundry. We watched Michael Clayton last night which was actually really good. For some reason I thought it was supposed to be super political, but it was more of an "Erin Brockovich" type film.

Today was a great day! We are still in our Rock Star series and Preston, our family connections pastor, taught about the book Revelations "The Comeback Tour". I think it is the best sermon he's taught since he first began teaching...I think the point I took away the most was how for Christians, we'll be judged on what we did with the name "Christian". Did we make the most of what God gave us or did we just lean back and say, "Oh, I'm going to Heaven, there's nothing else I need to worry about..." On this particular point, Preston talked about how he used to go to revivals at his old church where everyone would be praying for Christ to come back at that moment. Preston said that his perspective has changed where now he prays for God to give us 1 more day...so that so many more people will come to know Christ and experience Him and eventually, Heaven. It struck me how often I'm consumed with the day-to-day items and just getting myself through life...so many times I am self-focused instead of eternity-focused. It challenged me to really think about my attitude day-to-day and the choices I make. It doesn't mean I need to be preachy (Lord knows I've been too much like that in the past-just ask my siblings and family) but it does mean that I need to make the most of opportunities that are put in front of me...

My Pre-K class had about 20 kids in it today. The more I am in there, the more they crack me up. I commented on how cool one little boy's shoes were. They have skulls&bones all over them like polka dots. His response: I'm glad my mom got them for me because they make me go super fast!

Too funny! I saw the same little boy at Zaxby's during lunch and he looked a little freaked out that I was there.

This is seriously long so I'm going to stop:)

Oldie But Goodie

Peggy emailed this picture a while back and I meant to post it, but forgot. Shows how I was destined for the beverage industry!

Graduation Time!

May 3rd is going to be a busy day! Alex is graduating COLLEGE! I can not believe that it is time for him to graduate:) After Alex's graduation, I'm hopping into a car and heading back to GA to see Tim's best friend, Jon, get married. I don't quite know if the driving trip is going to work (the graduation is at 9AM in North Carolina and Jon's wedding is GA) but I'm going to give it my best shot!

LJ goes in for his 6 month shots tomorrow and at the same time Tim will be dropping off Charlie Pug to have a growth removed. Another crazy Friday! Thankfully, we have nothing going on tomorrow night so it will be chill time in the May house:)
