I spent the day (after taking Pug to the vet and then picking up some Soy Formula for LJ) finishing Julie & Julia. It's about Julie Powell and her trek to cook all of the recipes from Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child in one year. She tracks it all via a blog and gains popularity as she goes. The book was spawned from the end of the project and there is currently a movie in the works. I really enjoyed the book because it made me laugh and it made me want to attempt the things I think of as impossible. I hope I can pass these things along to LJ. So many times I hear about parents telling there kids, "Well, that's a great idea honey, but we need to be realistic." Heck, I experienced it a little just figuring out my major in college - Yeah, we know you want to be a writer, but you need to think about a real job...Now, I don't regret getting a degree in Communications, nor do I regret where I'm at right now, but sometimes I wonder what it would've been like if I'd gone a different direction...maybe majored in something like English or Literature...so here's to a great summertime read. If I've still got it on me, I'll try to bring it to the Kalvin Family Reunion...
So I've promised lots of pictures and now I will deliver...and maybe a few videos as well:)

A little pooped from a long day of playing!

LJ in his favorite toy: The Rainforest Jumpy Thing:)
Steeplechase...and yes I did have a hat as well, but unfortunately no pics of me & the hat just yet. I promise more to come.

Hi, BK! (I'm hoping that's the right way to address you.) :)
You don't have an e-mail address on your profile, so I hope this comment reaches you instead. You made reference in this post to the "Kalvin Family Reunion." That intrigues me because my wife's maiden name is Kalvin, and she knows very little about her family. We've managed to trace her Kalvins back to her great-grandparents in Louisiana, but even information about them is hard to come by and we haven't gotten much farther.
Could you e-mail me at jbmartin (at) nwi (dot) net sometime? There can't be that many Kalvin families that spell the name that way, and I'll bet there's a connection somewhere. I'd be very grateful for any information you might have.
Thanks!
