UGH SNOW!

Okay...so the ugh is not really because of the snow...it's about the LACK of snow!! When Tim and I moved up here (Cartersville area) we did it b/c we couldn't afford what we wanted down in Canton. One of the great things about the area is that it is in the Northern part of Georgia which means we should get at least a little snow. How fun was it to watch the news and see that everything to the SOUTH of us was getting snow?? Not fun! We got more snow last week then we did this weekend. I'm really hoping that snow will fall again this winter! I personally don't care if it's on the weekend or a weekday, just so long as we get something. The one thing we did get though was cold weather:) This morning as we were all cuddled up and warm the temperature was 5 degrees, not including the wind chill. So for everyone wanting pictures of LJ in the snow, I'm sorry but you'll have to wait a little longer:) I thought we'd get a decent amount of snow so I held off (the forecast originally said that our area would get 3-6inches...that changed to trace - what we actually got - to 1 inch).

For those wanting to see the video of the birth of LJ I realized that the file was too big to load on blogger. I'm working on making it smaller or breaking it into 2 files so hoepfully it'll be up soon.

SNOW

It snowed! Big, fluffy beautiful snowflakes...I really thought it would stick and that I'd be able to stay home from work. Alas, as it is with Georgia snow, even with an inch or two on the ground, after a night of rain it disappears! I had planned on getting a picture of LJ in the snow with his nice, warm winter coat on, but he was already in bed by the time the snow had begun accumulating...and by morning it wasn't pretty anymore. According to newscasters, we may be getting snow again this weekend so hopefully it will provide a better picture taking opportunity! LJ was lucky and experienced his first snow day since the county his daycare is in closed their schools today (there is a section of the county that is pretty far north and actually kept it's snow on the ground) so he spent the day with Grandpa Yelken. They had a fabulous time today of rolling over, watching football previews and other fabulous boy-type things.

On another note...off to the side of the blog I've place a link to a website that is going to be publishing some articles of mine. They are random and since the website publishes lots of random things (and pays for them) I'm going to be using it as a practice space to get my writing in gear...so click on and read...hopefully as time goes by the articles will get better and better and I'll begin to send you other links to where my work will be located...

Making Progress

Just have to say that although the housing market is supposed to be at an all time low (or whatever the press is saying), the housing market in Canton/Cartersville is not so bad. We've got visitors #4 heading to our house tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed! So far we've been choice #2 for everyone or they decided against us when they saw we didn't have a basement...Keeping the house clean hasn't been as bad as we thought so hopefully we can keep it up! Lyndsey headed back to school this week and is now happily settled at GSU. I don't expect that we'll see her for awhile, however, she did email me today saying that she needed pics of Linc...so maybe the nephew will keep her coming up her at least a few times a year!

Holiday Photos and More!

So, I've finally gotten some pictures from the holidays! The photos from Christmas might seem cruel, but I couldn't resist when I saw the Reindeer Costume. I got it for 50% off and with a gift card. I was a terrible wife and dressed LJ up for Tim's office Christmas party. The guys, of course, totally made fun of him (more Tim than LJ) and the girls all thought he was adorable! New Year's Eve we attended a party at our friend's house. We had a great time. LJ was passed around until he passed out and then he slept until literally five minutes before the ball dropped. He woke up to kids honking on their noise makers and then he started to freak out. The funny thing is that right as everyone yelled "Happy New Year!" and really began to blow their horns and yell he totally stopped crying and just began watching everyone.

The week after New Year's I came down with an awful bug. I literally only remembering throwing up three times in my life (usually I say twice, but I forget that I did kind-of do it at the hospital too)...Anyways, starting at midnight I got completely sick. I got through it and then Tim got sick. Our two best friends got sick, their parents and probably a dozen other people from the same party...but now we are all recovered, so it's much better around the house.

The same weekend we got sick we were also prepping the house to sell. It is now on the market and so far we've had two visitors to the house. Our area seems to be selling pretty decently so hopefully we'll get some bites. We had one guy offer to take our dog, Mel, with the house if he bought it, but I told Tim "No!". The nice thing about having the house on the market is that our house is constantly clean. We have been working really hard to make sure everything is put away and that we are not leaving crap around. It's amazing how much better we both feel when the house is not a chaotic mess!

Currently...

Currently, LJ weighs 13.5lbs! He is growing so fast! He has conquered rolling over from his stomach to his back and he loves to mimic. With Tim he mimics sticking his tongue out and with my family he mimics a pouting lip. Kevin will say, "Don't give me no lip!" and LJ will stick out his bottom lip as far as it will go. Everyone gets a laugh! He is super flirty with all the girls and still gets tons of attention from the ladies at the daycare and the nursery at church. Christmas was good. He slept through all of it. I haven't downloaded any pics yet, but I will soon.

Today, after church, Lyndsey spent the day with him at our house (I hung out with her and Tim pressure-washed the back of the house...more on that in a sec.). She heads off to Georgia Southern on Monday to register for classes and get her dorm room ready. She'll only be back once a month, so she was trying to get in a ton of LJ time.

Tim pressure-washed the house b/c...we're putting the house on the market! We found a neighborhood in Canton (we're 30 minutes out right now) and if we can make a move soon then it would be a fantastic investment. It's a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath with a formal living room, dining room, breakfast area off the kitchen and sunken living (family room). It's a lot of house for the price and we would love to be able to take advantage. The neighborhood is near our friends (in fact some of our best friends are looking to move into there as well) and has sidewalks and streetlights (silly, however our current neighborhood is pitch black at night and zero sidewalks).

We really feel like this is the time to move for us so we have hit high gear to try and get the house together to put on the market. The big question many people are asking is, "Does it make your (Courtney's) commute better?" Short of moving to Atlanta, my commute will never be better. At this point it will be the same or maybe 10-15 minutes longer...Luckily because of the new hours I've been working with the exception of rushhours on Fridays and major wrecks, I should make decent time. So if everyone could start praying that our house sells quickly we'd be thrilled! The new house will take 3-6 months to build so we'd like to be able to get that started anytime soon. I'll post floor plans eventually, but will wait until things are a little more solid.
